Why I’m Running For State Representative

True transparency is when citizens keep tabs on their government, not when government keeps tabs on their citizens.   I believe in putting people before politics. That is EXACTLY why; I will email you before I vote on major bills. You will be able to read exactly what it is, and then click on the link to cast your vote. You will immediately be able to see the vote totals. I will ensure your voice will be heard.

I believe in term limits. Some legislators have been in office so long, they are out of touch with the wishes of the people they represent. They have made it their career. My opponent has been in the same office for 44 years. Richard Nixon was the president when he was elected. I will author legislation enacting term limits to ensure that no one person will hold the same office this long.

I want to make Minnesota the best place to live, work and raise a family. With your help, we can make it happen.

About Richard Lieberman

Richard grew up in St. Louis Park with his two brothers and parents who taught him the value of hard work and instilled a sense of duty to the community. Richard attended school in St. Louis Park, and then attended the University of Minnesota, studying accounting. After two years he was called upon to help run the family business.

Richard has been married to Bonnie for 25 years and raised five children at their home in New Hope. He also serves his community by volunteering with the Salvation Army in helping the homeless at their Minneapolis downtown shelter. For many years he has been both a coach and mentor to the youth in our community.

He looks forward to taking this approach at the Legislature, both helping and bettering the lives of all Minnesotans.

Achievements in Education

Education is an issue near and dear to my heart. I felt so strongly about it that I became the Director of the Downtown Fair School PTO. This school was set up by the State Legislature to find solutions to improve the achievement gap of minority students in Minnesota. I pioneered ground breaking new polices and initiatives while working closely with Superintendent Dr. Dan Jett. We achieved fantastic results. In 2010 the Fair School, where 77% of the students were minorities, we graduated 92% of the students on time.

I plan to take these results to the State Capitol and author legislation that will help increase the graduation rates of ALL our students in Minnesota schools.
